The 3 Star Wars maps presented here are possibly some of the coolest and most original maps we’ve ever featured. They are the brainchild of freelance illustrator and artist Andrew DeGraff.
Each map shows the paths of the major characters in each of the original Star Wars trilogy films.
The map above shows the best selling singer, musical artist or band from each of the 50 US states. While many expected names make the list such as Elvis, Prince, Madonna, etc. there are quite a few surprises.

The map above shows the European countries (in red) that have invaded Poland (in black) at some point in history. As with all maps using modern borders to show historical events, there are of course issues.
The map above shows the “border” between North and South in England and Wales (Scotland is even further North) based on a 2007 study by the University of Sheffield.
Now that 2016 is finally over, we thought it would be fun to look back at our most popular maps from last year.
(We did the same thing for the Top 15 Maps of 2015 last year.)
The maps below are ranked on the number of visitors each received in 2016. As you’ll see some are older posts that got a second lease on life, while most are brand new to 2016.

The map above shows which counties switched party in the 2016 US Presidential election compared to 2012. Red counties switched from Democrat to Republican, blue counties switched from Republican to Democrat and the vast majority in grey did not switch parties.
The map above shows the county level and vote share results of the 2016 US Presidential Election. The darker the blue the more a county went for Hilary Clinton and the darker the red the more the county went for Donald Trump.
The map above gives a preliminary view how white voters voted in the 2016 US presidential election on a county by county basis. The counties in blue voted for Hillary Clinton and the ones in red voted for Donald Trump.
