Recently, twitter user @47Tolkien has been posting some interesting genetic maps showing which areas of the world are more genetically similar to one group or country than another.

An interactive tool to visualise your genetic affinity to populations across the world using G25 coordinates — a 25-dimensional PCA of autosomal DNA widely used in population genetics.

🗺️ What is G25?

G25 (Global 25) is a system of 25 genetic coordinates derived from PCA of modern and ancient DNA samples, developed by Davidski at the Eurogenes project.

📊 Data Sources

Map references use the Moriopoulos Collection 2025. The sample browser uses Moriopoulos Collection 2026 (3,227 modern + 5,071 ancient samples). Maps by MapChart.net.

And finally keep in mind that these are relative differences only and not absolute. E.g. both France and Germany are closer to each other than either is to say China, but these maps just look at the world and say which one is closer between those two.
