The map above shows how many Sunlight (or really daylight) hours there are across Europe on the Winter Solstice (aka the shortest day of the year) on December 21st.

The reason I say daylight rather than sunlight is that I don’t think London ever gets 7 hours of actual sunlight on the 21st.

The map above shows which type of public toilets are more common in Europe, Single-Sex or Unisex.

In almost all countries in Europe you’re more likely to find Single-Sex toilet options over Unisex with the exception of Denmark and Sweden where the reverse is true.

The data comes from a 2019 Bloomberg Article (sorry paywalled).

Number of Towns/Cities With A Tram System in Europe

The map above shows the number of cities (or sometimes towns) with a tram system in Europe. Russia and Germany are the clear leaders with over 50 systems each.

The UK on the other hand has many fewer systems than comparable sized countries such as France (28) or Italy (23) and the largest city in Europe Western Europe without some form of rail based mass transit (Leeds) [Note: Voronezh, Russia closed their Tram in 2009 and has almost double the population of Leeds].

Finally, Gmunden in Austria (pop: 13,191) is the smallest city in Europe with a functioning tram system.
