Countries whose flags have either red and/or blue in them

Map by reddit user PieJesu, edit by will_holmes

As we saw in a previous post, the vast majority of the world’s countries have at least some red in their flag. The next most popular colour is blue, with only a handful of countries having neither colour in their flag.

The following countries have neither red or blue, but do all have green:

  • Jamaica
  • Ireland
  • Mauritania
  • Ivory Coast
  • Niger
  • Nigeria
  • Cyprus
  • Saudi Arabia
  • Pakistan

Bhutan is the only country to not have red, blue or green in its flag.

This post would be improved if you put a small flag next to each of the 9 countries who don’t have red or blue in theirs. Would be nice to see theirs without having to Google each one.

The second most common colour on national flags is white, not blue.

      White technically isn’t a color.

If Bhutan is the only one without red, blue, or green, then why is it coloured purple on the map (with other red and/or blue countries)? Personally I would say that there is red on the flag (in the lower-right triangle, as opposed to the upper-left triangle, which is an orangey colour), albeit a very unique shade. After all, if Latvia’s and Qatar’s colours are counted as red (albeit questionably so) than (equally questionable) Bhutan should also be given the benefit of the doubt.

I thought Libya’s flag was all green. Is there red in there somewhere?

Hello, could you please update this post to reflect the fact that Mauritania’s flag now includes two red stripes? Thank you.
