Looking at the map you can see why Trump wants Canada, who wouldn’t want a second Alabama or New Jersey?
Provinces with their Replacements:
- Alberta (4.9 million): Alabama (5.2 million), note Kentucky (4.6 million) would be slightly closer
- British Columbia (5.7 million): Minnesota (5.8 million), South Carolina (5.5 million) would be slightly closer
- Manitoba (1.5 million): Hawaii (1.4 million), note Maine and New Hampshire each also have 1.4 million people.
- New Brunswick (854k): North Dakota (797k)
- Newfoundland and Labrador (545k): (587k)
- Nova Scotia (1.1 million): Delaware 1.1 million, note Rhode Island also has 1.1 million people
- Ontario (16.1 million): New York (19.9 million), note Pennsylvania at 13.1 million people is slightly closer in size
- Prince Edward Island (179k): Guam (173k)
- Quebec (9.1 million): New Jersey (9.5 million) or Kentucky (4.6 million) + Louisiana (4.6 million), note Virginia at 8.8 million is slightly closer
- Saskatchewan (1.2 million): Montana (1.1 million)
Note population figures are estimates for 2024.
Territories:
- Northwest Territories (44k): Northern Mariana (47k)
- Nunavut (41k): American Samoa (50k)
- Yukon (47k): US Virgin Islands (87k)
So overall a good map, and interesting there are so many states so close in size to Canadian provinces.
What do you think should the US add these 10 new states?
