Political Map of 48 Hypothetical US states Centered Around The 48 Largest Urban Areas

Map created by @StatisticUrban

The map above shows 48 hypothetical US states centered around the 48 largest urban areas, such that every point in a state is closer to its urban core than to any other.

This is known a Voronoi partition.

It also shows the predicted number of electoral college votes each state would have, and which way it would lean politically.

However, the result would actually be even closer than the last election at 270-268 for Democrats. With 26 Red States and 24 Blue States once Alaska and Hawaii are added in.

The squiggly nature of the map is due to existing counties being kept intact.

What do you think of the map?

Sure would like to see the county lines so we know which counties are in what electoral entities.
