Poland’s Fertility Rate Has Fallen To Just 1.10 But What Does That Mean?

Map Credit: Geo Universe

The map above shows a rather socking fact: Poland’s fertility rate has fallen to just 1.10 children per woman in 2025 one of the lowest levels in Europe.

Some more key facts (according to the map author):

👶 Fertility rate (2025): 1.10
👥 Population (2026): 37.3 million
📉 Population change since 2019: −1.05 million
🍼 Births (2019–2026): 2.13 million
⚰️ Deaths (2019–2026): 3.08 million
🔮 Projected population:
• 32.95 million by 2050 (−11.7%)
• 25.66 million by 2100 (−31.3%)

However, you can model out in more details what this means over the long term:

Poland in 2100: Population Projection

Cohort component projection

Poland in 2100

Poland recorded 238,300 births and 405,500 deaths in 2025, with fertility around 1.06 children per woman. This model ages the country’s real population structure forward in five year steps. Move the sliders to change the assumptions.

How this works. The starting point is Poland’s registered population of 37.33 million at the end of 2025, with the age and sex structure taken from Statistics Poland and rolled forward using recorded births from 2021 to 2025. Each five year step ages every cohort using a Heligman Pollard life table calibrated to the life expectancy assumption, then adds births from women aged 15 to 49 using Poland’s own fertility schedule and a sex ratio at birth of 1.06.

Two things to keep in mind. The registered population is about 0.9 million higher than the usually resident count, so shift everything down by roughly 2.5 percent if you prefer that measure. And the figures exclude the Ukrainians living in Poland who sit outside the official count. As a check, Statistics Poland ran its own simulation at 1.10 in November 2025 and reached 28.4 million by 2060; this model gives 27.2 million on the same fertility with migration switched off entirely.
