Map of The United States in Esperanto

Map source Wikimedia

The map above simply shows the names of each of the states in the United States with their names in Esperanto.

Interestingly, both Ohio and Idaho are spelled the same, although would be pronounced slightly differently than they are in English.

Besides, that all other state names have an O ended to the end of their names as that’s how nouns are written in Esperanto. Still, “De Kalifornio ĝis Nov -Jorko Insulo” doesn’t have quite the same ring as “From California to the New York Island” does it?

It would be “Nov-jorkia insulo” since in Esperanto the adjectives all end in ~a.

Do I get geek points now?
