According to Adobe: “A “modern”‘ PDF file can be 15,000,000 inches in each direction.” 15 million Inches is 38,100,000 cm or 236.74 miles or 381 km.

Therefore, a PDF could in theory cover an area of 56,045 sq miles or 145,161 km2. This is an area slightly larger than New York state or Greece.
