One tap tells you which country you are standing in.
How this tool works
The tool takes your GPS position (or any coordinates you enter, or a click on the map) and tests it against the boundary polygons of 177 countries directly in your browser. No lookup service is involved for the country test, so it works instantly and privately. Uses your device GPS with one click (your location is processed in your browser and never stored), or you can type coordinates or click the map.
What you can do with it
- Check which country you are in near land borders while hiking, driving, or on a train
- Identify the country for any coordinates from a photo or dataset
- Explore borders by clicking around the map
- Get the continent along with the country
Why use it
Near borders, phones often pick a cell tower in the neighboring country and switch time or roaming unexpectedly. A direct boundary test on your actual GPS position answers the question definitively.
