Tenerife Gets More Tourists Than Brazil

In 2024, this tiny island welcomed 7.2 million tourists — more than all of Brazil’s 6.6 million.

And yet… Brazil is 4,200 times bigger. If Brazil matched Tenerife in tourist density, it would have hosted 29 billion visitors — nearly 4 times the world’s population.

I’m not 100% sure where the numbers come from, but they do seem to be relatively accurate. Wikipedia cites 7,384,707 tourists in 2024 for Tenerife, while Brazil received 6.65 million according to Embratur.
