The map above shows the 6 different people who bring gifts to Polish children on Christmas. They range from the traditional Święty Mikołaj (Santa Claus) to the scary Dziadek Mróz (Grandfather Frost).
On reddit, user szyy who created the map wrote:
This is a compilation of maps made based on the results of a survey I did on my Facebook profile on December 21st this year (4450 responses, although obviously can’t be fully representative). You can learn more about the survey, the maps and how were they made here.
Worth to mention that obviously darker color means larger percentage of people gave a specific answer.
In order of popularity you have:
- Święty Mikołaj (Santa Claus)
- Gwiazdor (star-man)
- Dzieciątko (little Baby Jesus)
- Aniołek (little Angel)
- Gwiazdka (little star)
- Dziadek Mróz (Grandfather Frost)

Santa Claus? No way! I’ve always thought it was an American idea ;). But I’m from the ‘Baby Jesus’/’Little angel’ region so I guess I was wrong my entire life
