How this tool works
The address is first geocoded with OpenStreetMap to get its coordinates, then the point is tested against Census state and county boundary polygons in your browser to identify the county. This two-step approach means the county determination itself is done against official boundaries rather than trusting the geocoder's labels.

Why use it
