Moonrise and moonset times for any place and date, with the current phase.
How this tool works
The tool scans the chosen day for the moments the moon crosses the horizon at your location, using standard lunar position formulas, and refines each crossing to the minute. It also shows the phase, illumination, and whether the moon is up right now. Because the moon rises about 50 minutes later each day, some calendar days genuinely have no moonrise or no moonset, and the tool says so rather than inventing one.
What you can do with it
- Plan moon photography, stargazing, and fishing around moonrise
- Check when tonight's full moon actually clears the horizon
- See at a glance whether the moon is up right now at your location
- Handle the no-moonrise days correctly instead of guessing
Why use it
Moonrise is far less intuitive than sunrise because it drifts through the clock every month. A calculator that handles the odd cases honestly is the only reliable way to plan around it.
