Slide to any latitude on Earth and see every country that line crosses.
How this tool works
Pick any latitude with the slider or type an exact value. The tool intersects that circle of latitude with all 177 country boundaries live in your browser, listing each country crossed with its approximate overland length, drawing the line on the map, and showing the full length of that circle of latitude, which shrinks from 40,075 km at the equator toward zero at the poles.
What you can do with it
- Explore which countries share any latitude, from the tropics to the Arctic
- See how much land vs ocean any latitude crosses
- Watch the circle length shrink as you approach the poles
- Recreate any famous line, like the 38th parallel or the 49th
Why use it
The named lines (Equator, tropics, circles) each have their own page, but every other latitude has a story too: the 38th parallel divides Korea, the 49th draws the US-Canada border. This makes every one of them explorable.
